Westfield first came to New Zealand in 1997 and now boasts a portfolio of 12 shopping centres with more than 1,600 retail outlets and around 400,000 square metres of retail space.
Westfield has assets in New Zealand worth NZ$3 billion and further developments in the pipeline. The Group manages shopping centres in all major urban areas, including nine in Auckland, the country’s economic heart and most populous city. Westfield’s New Zealand properties attract more than 74 million visits each year.
Since 2000, Westfield has invested NZ$1 billion into developing its New Zealand shopping centres. The company plans to spend a further NZ$500 million over the coming decade for new project work. This demonstrates Westfield’s depth of commitment to the New Zealand market.
In 2007, the Company celebrated its ten-year anniversary in New Zealand by opening Westfield Albany on Auckland’s burgeoning North Shore, its first greenfield site in the country.
